Roopkund Trek

Roopkund, high altitude glacial lake in Uttarakhand, India, in the lap of Trishul (Mountain peak), famous for hundreds of human skeletons found in the lake. Being a trekking bug, then this trek is a must-do. Its got everything, breath-taking mountain peaks, lush green forest, vast meadows and the feel which you get by hearing the name “adventure”.

Trek starts from Lohajung (7,700 ft.), 250kms form Kathgodam. Didina is 10 kms. from Lohajung. One can enjoy bathing in Neel Ganga falling in between.Next day, trek to Bedni Bughyal via Ali Bughyal(12 kms.). This part of trek, one would love the most- a trail through the lush green forest. The view is amazing, at the height of 12,500 ft. you would forgot everything and for a moment would get lost in the surroundings.

Trek to Pathar Nachauni is small, one can see snow white mountain ranges along with snow patched green hills. Once reaching Bhagwabhasa (13,800 ft.), place is fully covered with snow giving an amazing view of Himalayan mountain range.

Next day starting early we reached Roopkund by 7:30 a.m. On reaching there, what I could just think “one has to be there to believe it”.
