She looked like a bride in her wedding gown-beautiful, serene and peaceful. That is how I like to describe the Himalayas! Doing the Everest Base Camp (EBC) trek had been my dream for quite some time but it was only in April 2015 that my dream would finally turn into reality.
At an altitude of 9000 feet, the trek started from Lukla, a small town near Kathmandu. Nestled in the midst of nature with weather that can only be described as perfect, the trek seemed to be a cake walk at first. As we continued onwards and upwards though, the trail started to rise as we traversed through forests, valleys, frozen rivers and mountains, the altitude started rising and the temperature started dropping. With every step the trek got tougher and tougher. It clearly was no longer a cake walk. We reached EBC on the 7th day.
I strongly feel that anyone and everyone with strong mental strength and determination can do it. Physical strength will ensure that you enjoy every moment of the trek. For me, the astonishing view of the snowcapped mountains and an opportunity to experience the Sherpa culture is something I will forever cherish
